Stephen Pearcy – The Voice of Ratt
As the founder, lead singer and songwriter of the metal rock band RATT, Stephen Pearcy is credited with having been a pioneer of the early 80’s Sunset Strip rock scene. Having led his creation to Mega Multi-Platinum Success Year after Year from 1984 to 1991. Capturing critical acclaim for his performances, style and uniquely salacious vocals. Pearcy formed RATT in Los Angeles in 1982 from his previous band Mickey RATT. Known for their overtly sexual appearance, rebellious attitude and take no prisoner approach to metal, Atlantic Records recognized RATT’s potential and star power thus signing the band to a contract resulting in the 1984 album “Out of the Cellar”, which became one of many multi-platinum successes. RATT climbed up the charts with singles from “Out of the Cellar”, soaring past Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy”, Van Halen’s “Panama”, Madonna’s “Borderline” and David Bowies “Blue Jean”. The record generated top ten singles followed by sold out tours throughout the world. This momentum remained with every proceeding RATT album to include their most recent release of “Infestation” in 2010. Their last recording from that time in 1991 is Ratt “81-91″ of which marked the end of an era, and to the disbelief of many die hard metal fans who seemingly could never get enough of Pearcy, it seemed to mark the end to a self-proclaimed “dynasty of rough & tough metal” that ruled the better part of the 80s. Throughout RATT’s nearly four decades of success with Pearcy at its helm, they released 8 albums and played thousands of shows worldwide all the while selling over 20 million records. In 1992 Pearcy explored other areas of interest and created the band ARCADE with Cinderella’s drummer, Fred Coury. With the release of his first solo debut in 2002, “Social Intercourse”, and 20 CDs to his credit, he continued to record and tour vigorously to the delight of a new emerging fan base of metal fans. Pearcy’s continued exploration away from music is as a New York Times Best Selling Author, “SEX, DRUGS, RATT ‘n’ ROLL… My Life in Rock” by Stephen Pearcy. Hailed as “A jaw-dropping tell-all from the lead singer of the 1980s super group Ratt: the groupies, the trashed hotel rooms, the drugs—and just how much you can get away with when you’re one of the biggest hair metal stars of all time.” 2020, “Year of the Rat”, started in a positive direction with RATT landing a Geico Insurance commercial that would introduce RATT to a whole new breed of fans with the catch phrase “We have a RATT Problem”, seen by over 15 million viewers in its first 2 weeks on air, RATT’s “Round and Round” recharted on Billboards Top Ten Hard Rock Digital Song Sales and a newfound fanbase was born. At its core, WARRANT is an American rock band through and through. Hitting it big in 1989, the Hollywood, CA based band rose through the ranks of the local Sunset Strip scene to the level of multiplatinum selling, chart-topping success. The band first came into the national spotlight with their debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich. This album produced Radio and MTV chart toppers “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries,” and the massive hit “Heaven” which reached #1in Rolling Stone and #2on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in a row. The single “Heaven” enjoyed Gold sales and the Album went Platinum in Canada as well, eventually selling over 3 million copies. The band toured the globe performing 262 shows in support of DRFSR and closed the year with a Platinum Home Video. WARRANT’s sophomore album Cherry Pie was released in September 1990.This album, which spawned the MTV & Radio hits “Cherry Pie,” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” and “I Saw Red,” all reached the Top 10 in the United States and went onto sell 3 million copies, reaching Platinum sales in Canada and Australia. The band played 200 shows in support of Cherry Pie and finished the tour headlining sheds all over the USA and ended up being one of the top grossing tours of1991. Over the course of their career, WARRANT has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Little River Band
Worldwide album and CD sales now top 30 million. Bassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980, and worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom, while producing ‘Time Exposure’, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.” Later that same year, guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits. As band members departed one by one, Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium. To date, Nelson’s vocal and bass guitar talents are included on 23 Little River Band Albums/CD’s. I never Knew when I started this that dedicating myself to music would be taking on so much responsibility. For a guy who never thought he was going to live past 30 this has been an incredible journey. Our ninth record HELLBOUND marks 22 years since our debut self-titled release and what an amazing roller coaster we have been on. From hit songs to platinum and gold records and millions of fans worldwide – all during a time period when traditional sounding hard rock bands didn’t exist – except for Buckcherry. We beat odds and built our reputation on the live shows, and our “one of a kind” approach to every opportunity. When the pandemic hit, we had to shift gears like everyone else and it was anything but comfortable. The good new is when this band is backed up against the wall, we produce our best music. HELLBOUND reflects just that. Teaming up with Marti Fredrickson again was so inspiring. He really brings out the best of us and becomes the sixth band member when we are together. There is this mutual respect and passion going on that makes it effortless and fun. There was so much going on in the world that it was easy to find subject matter for song writing. Songs like BARRICADE and JUNK reflect that, but I also was reminiscing about the moment when I “sold my soul to rock n’ roll”. I will never forget it. It was the very first performance at a house party in Orange County, CA. I Knew in that moment that there was no looking back, and no “plan B”. It was only victory or death. The title track HELLBOUND reflects that very moment and is one of my favorite tracks. Part of what I loved about rock records growing up was the dynamics from song to song, you had mid-tempo songs, ballads, and rockers and HELLBOUND is a great reflection of that. Songs like NO MORE LIES, AIN’T WASTING NOT MORE TIME, and THE WAY really capture the depth and emotion of not only the world situation but also the personal struggle. Then you must have those quintessential Buckcherry tracks like SO HOT, 5-4-3-2-1, HERE I COME, and GUN that I can see our long time fans really appreciating.
