Blind Melon
Formed in Los Angeles in 1990, a group of musicians from different parts of the country. Rogers Stevens (guitar), Brad Smith (bass), and Glen Graham (drums) moved west from Mississippi, while Christopher Thorn (guitar) hailed from Pennsylvania. Completing the lineup was Shannon Hoon, a charismatic vocalist from Lafayette, Indiana. The band quickly gained recognition after Hoon lent his voice to Guns N’ Roses’ “Don’t Cry,” and their early demos caught the attention of Capitol Records, leading to a recording contract. They moved from crafting their unique blend of stripped-down psychedelia in a quiet house—immortalized in the song “Sleepyhouse”—to dominating the Billboard charts and performing at Woodstock ‘94. But success came with challenges. Their 1995 follow-up album, Soup, received mixed reviews upon release, though tracks like “Mouthful of Cavities” have since been celebrated. Just weeks after the album’s debut, tragedy struck when Shannon Hoon died from an overdose during a tour stop in New Orleans. Hoon’s untimely death at 28 left the band reeling. As a tribute, they released Nico, a collection of outtakes named after Hoon’s daughter, and a documentary, Letters from a Porcupine, which earned a Grammy nomination. Despite these efforts, the band disbanded in ’99 after struggling to find a vocalist who could fill Hoon’s shoes. Years later, in 2006, Blind Melon’s journey took an unexpected turn. Smith and Thorn were producing an album for singer-songwriter Travis Warren in Austin, Texas. Warren’s vocal range and raspy edge resembled Hoon’s, but he also brought his own style and vision. The band reunited with Warren on vocals, leading to a string of sold-out shows and the release of their ’08 album, For My Friends. Creativity surged again in 2016 when guitarist Rogers Stevens sent a song sketch to Warren, who quickly added vocals. This exchange ignited a prolific songwriting period that continued into 2018, culminating in a new wave of music. The addition of multi-instrumentalist Nathan Townes further enriched the band’s sound. Stevens noted, “We’re making the best music of our careers. I know everyone says that, but this time, it feels true.” Years of unrealized ideas poured out, resulting in some of the band’s most mature and dynamic work yet. Their resurgence began once again with the release of the single “Way Down and Far Below” in 2019. Looking ahead, Blind Melon has shows lined up for ’25, including a performance with O.A.R. at Red Rocks, signaling the next exciting chapter for the band and their fans. Lynch Mob
Lynch Mob was formed by George Lynch in 1989 after the breakup of Dokken, his long time band of which he was a founding member and main song writer. The band signed with Elektra Records, and immediately released “Wicked Sensation” which would go on to achieve gold status. The album received much critical and fan acclaim, and would pave the way for over a dozen records over the next 30+ years. The band is known for it’s high energy, guitar driven, hard rock vibe, while featuring elements of classic rock, blues, metal, with a propensity for improvisation. The current lineup features Lynch, along side of Jimmy D’Anda, Gabriel Colon, and Jaron Gulino. On drums, O.G. BULLETBOYS drummer Jimmy D’Anda brings the band an old school Dr Funkenstein funky, but heavy back beat. He’s also known for being the pie eating champion of Boyle Heights East Los Angeles 84’. Go Rough Riders! Gabriel Colón is a Puerto Rican singer who started his career with a band called Fast Taker. The band would go on to release a top 10 single in Puerto Rico’s rock radio market. Since arriving in the states, he has show cased his wide range of vocal talent with many rock acts including, Gothic Knights, Culprit, White Wizzard, and Rowan Robertson. New Jersey’s own Jaron Gulino brings the east coast attitude and energy. He has prospered in a long career as the bassist in a variety of bands, most notably post-grunge rock band Tantric. Gulino achieved chart topping success with multiple releases from Tantric, as well as performing on many high profile tours and events with numerous other acts. Lynch Mob is currently celebrating the legacy of an incredible history, with shows consisting of classic, career spanning material, as well as a heavy dose of Dokken material. Since their 2013 inception, Paralandra has hit the ground running. The band hails from Springfield, MO and is led by father and daughter, Paul and Casandra Carson. They were later joined by local friends and musicians, bassist, Sawyer Rikard, and drummer, Dakota Watson, to form their dream lineup. 2014’s self-made album “Rise Up” launched the band into the forefront of the rock scene attracting the attention of Legend Recordings. Under the umbrella of Legend, they have released two EP’s, a standalone single, and a full length album. EP’s include “All Fall Down” and “Ascension” which feature singles “All Fall Down”, “Back to Life” and “Killer Queen”. Their standalone single “Love Will Win” spawned a legion of new fans as it topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, and has become an anthem for all. In 2021, they cut a full length album “Street Magic” with world-renowned producer, Michael “Elvis” Baskette. While the entire album has generated tremendous streaming success, “For the Record” has surpassed 2 million views and streams with no end in sight. Multi-platinum American rockers, HINDER, continue to drive a career of longevity that few bands achieve. It’s been three decades since Jackyl shot out of Georgia spewing equal parts hard rock, heavy metal and Southern rock. The August 2022 release of Jackyl 30 Coming In Hot cements and furthers Jackyl’s no-holds-barred legacy.
